Mining and the search for Thundereggs

Not only miners but also an everyday person can be lucky and get to  absolutely real mines.  Tamborine Mountain was created in the  volcanic eruption aproximately 22 milions of years ago. Since then there has been small air bubbles hidden deep in the mountain, they were trapped when lava cooled down.

A bird with a wonderful name

It was in the city when I first saw this bird. We were driving home from Centenary pool and it was there, sitting on a fence, looking at our green car. I was surprised because of its shape, size and colors. Actually hadn't realised that even the birds here would be different.

Colors of the trees

I have now gathered a wide collection of tree portraits. In Australia you can find many blossoming trees that add colors and beauty to the city landscape. Big flowers and lots of colours is what make the trees here so nice. I don't know all the names, but it is still fun to see them blossom.  

Jumping meat

Just recently a friend told me that if I want to save the world I have to choose the right meat. Of course, it is much better not to eat meat at all, but that's not what this story is about.

The old skins

Walking through the forest of gum trees you can be sure, dont walk off the path.  If you really really need to, you will have to look around as carefully as you can and find a place with the least amount of leaves on the ground.
You cant find moss growing in the forests here, too dry for it, I guess. It is dry twigs, leaves and some grasy bits and you never know what hides under it. And those nasties know how to camouflage.

Umbrella trees

Winter in Australia is supposed to be dry and cold season and usually lasts from June till August. This year it is different, it rains a lot in Brisbane. Everyone here has to manage this moist and cold climate, even though many came here to search for warmth. 

Almost coconuts

While wandering around Sydney I managed to get in the botanical gardens. Suculent garden and various palms are all over everywhere. And few palms had really weird stuff hanging off them.
